Steps to pin a conversation on iPhone
- Open the Messages app on your iPhone.
- Touch and hold the conversation you want to keep at the top.
- Tap Pin from the menu that appears.
Alternatively, tap Edit or the More button (three dots), then choose Edit Pins, tap the Pin button next to a conversation, and tap Done. Pinned conversations appear as circular icons with the contact's photo or initials at the top of your message list.
Managing your pinned conversations
Unpinning a conversation
Touch and hold the pinned conversation icon, then tap Unpin. The conversation returns to its regular position in your message list.
Rearranging pinned conversations
Touch and hold a pinned icon, then drag it to a new position. You can reorder your nine pinned conversations to prioritize the people you message most.
Pinning shared items inside a conversation
Open a conversation, touch and hold a shared item such as a link or collaboration invitation, then tap Pin. To find these pinned items, tap the contact or group icon at the top of the conversation, then tap a category such as Links.
Pin limit
You can pin up to nine conversations on iPhone and iPad running iOS 14 or later. If you try to pin a tenth conversation, you must unpin one first. Google Messages pin feature is not available in India. Google Messages pin feature can only be used from a mobile device, and pinned messages can be viewed on mobile and Google Messages for Web.
