San Andreas and Vice City are among the most popular games that Rockstar Games ever produced. They feature a lot of neat add ons from previous games as well as having a great story. Add that with the freedom to do whatever you want on the game and you’ve got a winner. Want to go on a rampage with a rocket launcher? You can. Want your player character to eat a lot and get fat? You can. Wanna exercise your character and get rid of said fat? You bet you can! GTA allows players to experience all this. Couple that with a dedicated modder community and you have a game players would go back and experience time and time again.

But If you don’t wish to pay a cent, there are many websites to visit that have the APK and the relevant files. Softonic and APKsub are good choices in this regard. Not only can you do this on Android phones, but you can also play this on PC as well through the use of Emulators such as Bluestacks and Nox.

If you want to learn how to download APK files for other games, you can check our website. We have guides on how to install the Minecraft APK and Fortnite APK on your device.

Go to the APK downloading website of your choice

There are many websites that you can download APKs from. APKsum, Softonic, and Appmirror are some of the most reliable ones you can choose from.

Search for GTA: San Andreas

Like on Google Play Store, searching using the search bar is better. Compared to manually finding the game itself. As it’ll just give you a list of relevant games after the search is finished.

Click Download APK

You would then have to click the download APK button after the page is loaded. This would result in you to be taken to another page. The loading page per se.

Click Start Download

The download would begin after clicking the start download button indicated. Usually, the APK doesn’t have that much in terms of memory. Do note that this would only download the APK and not the files necessary to play the game. This is where steps 5 and 6 come in.

Click Download OBB

This is where the really big download comes in. You need this download if you want GTA San Andreas to run properly. Simply click this button to be taken to the loading page.

Click Start Download

Click the button to download the OBB file for GTA: San Andreas. Do note that the OBB files are pretty big and you’ll need a lot of MB for the download to finish. We recommend using Wi-Fi to not incur a lot of MB Usage on your data plans.

Why do you want to download the APK installer for GTA: San Andreas?

One of the most relevant reasons as to why the APK installation is better is because GTA: SA is a premium game. You need to fork in the cash if you want to download the game legitimately on Google Play Store. Some people don’t have the money for it though. So the ability to install the game without paying a cent is quite a draw for these guys.

In addition to this, the APK versions also have various mods attached to them that are preinstalled by the ones who deal them out. These mods are usually cheats like invincibility cheats, money cheats, et cetera. These cheats enable players to experience GTA: SA as they want. And allow them to mod the game as they wish as well. Which we’ll discuss in the next portion.

How to Install GTA: San Andreas APK + OBB files

Installing OBB files is a bit complicated in Android. But it can be done. The first thing that needs to be done is to install the APK first. After this, you need to insert the OBB files on the Android folder. Here’s how to do it:

Extract the OBB files from the folder

As usual on the internet, most files are on a zip folder. Extract the game files first either from your PC or on the phone through the use of WinRAR and other similar apps.

Rename the folder and copy-paste it on the OBB directory

This is an important step. Most folders in the OBB files folder follow a naming type. They usually start with com.(developer). (game). In this case, it’s com.rockstargames.gtasa. Rename the downloaded folder AND the OBB file into this, and copypaste it directly on the OBB folder.

The OBB folder can be located here: Device Storage/Android/OBB.

Downloading and Installing GTA San Andreas APK Mods

The original GTA San Andreas for the PC allows the players to modify it to their hearts content with various mods of their choice. Want to modify the cars to your liking? You can with mods. Want to add anime features to the game? You can with mods. Want lightsabers? Mods have you covered. Anything you wish to add to the game, GTA: SA allows you to do so. The question is, can it be done on the mobile version?

You can add mods to the mobile version. You just need one thing, CLEO. It’s a mod that allows you to install other mods that you can find on the internet. The link to download CLEO is here, and it supports both rooted and unrooted phones.

After downloading, here’s a step by step guide on how to install CLEO and other mods:

Open the CLEO Zip file

You need to open the CLEO Zip file before anything else. Inside the Zip are two things, an installer for a modded version of GTA: SA, and a folder. You can open the Zip file on your PC using WinRAR. Or on your Android Phone by using WinRAR or other zip apps found on Google Play. Do note that you need the original version of GTA: San Andreas before you can install the CLEO version. As there are files there that the CLEO zip file doesn’t have. Including the Obb files.

Install the modded version of GTA: SA

The CLEO version won’t run if the modded APK and the folder on the zip file aren’t installed. But first, let’s install the mod version. Simply click the APK provided by the download link and the game will install itself automatically. Before doing this though, be sure to rename the files in the data and OBB folders. You need to do this for the installation to not reset and remove the data inside. This is important as the files needed to run the game are in those folders. And though you’re installing a modded version, you still need those files to run the game. Just adding a number at the end would do really. As the phone would then consider those folders as files for a different application.

Cut and paste the Folder provided into the Android folder.

Now for the slightly more complicated part. You need to copy the files inside com.rockstargames.gtasa folder into the folder inside the data folder of your phone. It’s a bit complicated sounded like this, but here’s a step by step procedure:

  • Open the com.rockstargames.gtasa folder
  • Select all the files inside
  • Press the three vertical buttons on the upper right corner of the screen and select cut.
  • Copy the files to this directory: Device Storage/Android/data/com.rockstargames.gtasa.

You don’t need to put the files inside the files folder in this directory. Just putting them outside would do.

After these steps, you can now play GTA: San Andreas on your phone with mods. Some mods include flight, spawning cars, and other vehicles, and more. In addition to this, you can also include other mods on the CLEO mod. Simply copy the other mods into the same directory as before: Device Storage/Android/data/com.rockstargames.gtasa. Simple enough.

To use the CLEO script cheats in-game, simply swipe down with two fingers. The CLEO cheats would then appear. Simply choose which cheat you want to use to activate them.
