The game is made more fun with Genshin Impact multiplayer which allows players to join their friends and others in the game. It’s a great way to hang out with your buddies, farm for materials, and even finish quests.

In this article, we’ll be giving you a rundown of everything you need to know about Genshin Impact’s multiplayer function.

Genshin Impact: An Overview

Genshin Impact, originally released in 2020, has become quite popular among gamers. Not only does it offer a unique open-world game experience but it also allows gamers to experience events and different types of story quests that they can enjoy. The game combines visuals, a great set of characters, a unique storyline, and exciting gameplay for an experience that you will dig.

You can team up the best Genshin Impact characters to accompany you on your journey. With them, you’ll be able to build strong teams and breeze through quests. It’s also worth noting that the game is stocked with thrilling quests that you can discover for an even more exciting experience.

In all, Genshin Impact is a game that you should try playing. It might not be a game for everyone but it’s perfect for fans of games such as The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy.

Platforms You Can Play-On

Genshin Impact is available on PlayStation 4, PC, and mobile. The game is essentially free-to-play on all devices but you have the option to make in-game purchases in exchange for Primogems and other in-game features such as the Battle Pass.

Note that while you can buy Primogems and other things, you can get through the game as a free-to-play player. Purchasing additional items can help you progress faster but it isn’t required to get through the game. You can still easily advance through the game even if you play for free.

For those who are looking to download the game on PlayStation 4 and PC, you can head to Genshin Impact’s official website for the appropriate download links.

Genshin Impact Cross-Platform Compatibilty

Cross-platform compatibility is one of the things that Genshin Impact is best known for. You can play on different platforms and even play with your friends despite being on different platforms. All you need to do is to create an account with Genshin Impact to be able to access and play with your accounts via different platforms.

However, take note that account transfers can only be done between mobile and PC. If you play the game on the PS4, you cannot transfer or play with your existing account on other platforms. You will have to create a new account and start over again if you wish to play on another platform. Otherwise, cross-platform transfers are only possible for mobile and PC players.

Genshin Impact Multiplayer: What You Need to Know

Before you start running quests with your friends, there are a couple of things that you should know about Genshin Impact Multiplayer, otherwise known as Co-Op or Cooperative Mode.

A.) What Platforms Can Play Multiplayer?

All platforms can play multiplayer. You can play with your friends and other players regardless of what platform you’re on. Whether you play on PC, PS4, or mobile, you can play with your friends anytime as long as you are in the same region.

If you are not playing in the same region, you will not be able to play Genshin Impact with your friends so it’s best to keep regions in mind if you’re a beginner so your friends can help you later on.

B.) How to Add Friends?

Friends can be added by opening the Paimon Menu on all platforms. Simply follow the steps below to be able to add your friends:

  1. Open the Paimon Menu. For mobile players, it should be located on the top left of your screens on top of the mini-map.
  2. Once the menu is open, select the Friends option.
  3. Key-in your friend’s UID to add them.
Pro TIP

If you can’t find your UID, fret not. It should be located on the lower right of your screen. You can also find the UID on the Paimon Menu under your in-game photo.

C.) How to Play on Genshin Impact Multiplayer?

Before you can access Genshin Impact Multiplayer, you will have to be Adventure Rank 16 or higher to be able to welcome people into your world. You might not be able to enter the worlds of players whose World Level is higher than you but they will be able to enter yours. This is key especially if you want your friends to be able to play with you.

Once you’ve reached the required rank, you can now add and play with your friends. You might want to note though that you can only have three other players with you in your world to make a 4-person team.

To play with your friends, simply follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Paimon Menu.
  2. Select the Friends option from the menu.
  3. Select the friend that you wish to play with by tapping Request to Join.
  4. Wait for your friend to accept the request.

Once you’ve added your friends, they’ll be able to send you Co-Op requests as long as you have not activated any World Quests. That will hinder you from playing in multiplayer mode. Take note that you will not be able to get into your friend’s world unless they approve your request or unless they have the auto-accept option enabled.

Genshin Impact Multiplayer: Playing with Strangers

While you can play with your friends through Genshin Impact multiplayer, it is also possible to play with strangers on the game. Usually, it is harmless to play with strangers especially if you need to farm for ascension and weapon materials, artifacts, and for special quests that allow you to Co-Op. However, there are also a couple of things that you might want to keep in mind if you intend to open your world to strangers.

A.) Is It Safe?

Again, playing with strangers is essentially harmless. You won’t get hacked or anything by playing with strangers online. However, you have to be aware of random players who will come into your world.

There have been cases of Co-Op games where things such as resources and materials are being “stolen” from the host player’s world. This might seem harmless enough but any Genshin Impact player will know that every material counts as they are needed to ascend and level-up characters and weapons. It’s best to stay alert when you allow random players into your world. It helps to keep an eye on them by tracking them on the map if they aren’t with your character.

Otherwise, it’s fairly harmless to play with strangers. Some players even shared stories on how random strangers have helped them get through difficult quests and farm materials. It’s still best to keep an open mind while staying alert as you Co-Op.

B.) How to Turn-Off Random Co-Op Requests

If you don’t want to receive requests from strangers, the best thing you can do is to alter your Co-Op settings in the Co-Op menu.

Here’s how you can monitor or turn-off random Co-Op requests in Genshin Impact:

  1. Open the Co-Op Menu. It should be located on the top left portion of the screen beside the mini-map.
  2. On the bottom left corner, you will see a dropdown menu under the list of players available for Co-Op.
  3. You can either choose to Reject Join Requests or Join After Approval. The latter is recommended if you want to monitor who goes into your world and if you only want to let your friends in.
  4. Once you select an option, it will stay that way unless you decide to change it.

Despite being harmless in itself, it’s still recommended to be alert when you play in Genshin Impact Multiplayer. It’s also recommended to practice safe chat etiquette when conversing with random players.

Genshin Impact Multiplayer: What Can You Do?

Now that you know how to play or access Genshin Impact multiplayer, you will also need to know a couple of things that you can and cannot do while in Co-Op or multiplayer mode. There are many things that you can do while exploring this open-world game so it’s best to bring a friend to experience it with you.

A.) What Can You Do in Multiplayer?

As mentioned, there are a couple of things that you can do while in Co-Op mode, and here’s a quick rundown of them:

  • Finish Daily Commissions
  • Combat Enemies
  • Farm Materials
  • Grind Domains
  • Play Event-exclusive minigames
  • Battle Normal and Weekly Bosses

You will be able to battle most normal and weekly bosses in multiplayer except for Stormterror who is a weekly boss. Players won’t be able to battle him in multiplayer or Co-Op mode but you can play other weekly bosses such as The Wolf of the North and Childe. You can also battle normal bosses such as the Cryo Regisvine, Primo Geovishap, and the elemental cubes in Co-Op.

B.) What Can’t You Do in Multiplayer?

While a lot can be done while you’re in multiplayer, there is also a lot that you cannot do while your friends or strangers are in your world. There are just some things that you will have to do alone in Genshin Impact to become a stronger player.

That said, here’s a list of things that you cannot do in Genshin Impact multiplayer:

  • Buy from in-game merchants
  • Talk to Non-Playable Characters (NPCs)
  • Play World or Story Quests
  • Ascend World Levels
  • Spiral Abyss

While in multiplayer mode, you won’t be able to access important quests or world quests. Take note though that there are some quests that you can finish in Co-Op such as the “Nine Pillars of Peace” quest and there are others such as the “Trails of Tianqiu” that you cannot access in multiplayer.

Be careful when exploring through Genshin Impact’s open-world as you might unknowingly unlock some quests and you will be hindered from being able to Co-Op if you activate certain quests.

Also, you cannot bring a friend with you if you intend to activate the World Ascension Quest that you will have to battle through to ascend your world. It’s not recommended that you prolong this quest because you’ll be able to get better drops and you’ll be able to join your friends with higher world levels once you level-up your own.

The Pros and Cons of Genshin Impact Multiplayer

Playing in Co-Op or multiplayer mode has a lot of pros and cons for both parties. While Co-Op is encouraged, it’s also essential to know what’s in it for you when you decide to play with your friends and strangers.

With that, here are a couple of Pros and Cons about Genshin Impact multiplayer that you should keep in mind:

PROS

  • Finish domains easily.
  • Farming for materials becomes faster.
  • Dominate battels with strength in numbers.
  • Each player gets a share of drops and materials from bosses and domains.

CONS

  • Quest progress is slower.
  • Resources can only be farmed once by any player.
  • Players may experience stability issues while under Co-Op.

Wrap-Up

Ultimately, Genshin Impact proves to be an interactive game in most of its aspects. Genshin Impact multiplayer is a great way to help your friends and even earn materials and points for yourself in the progress. Learning how it works and figuring out the dynamics might take a while especially if you’re new to it, but once you’ve explored it with your friends, it becomes easier and you’ll want to Co-Op most of the time now. Working with Genshin Impact multiplayer allows players to progress easier while having fun with their peers and meeting new friends.
