Get back into your account to pay with Cash App
Before you can pay with Cash App on phone, you first need to get back into your account. If you have the app on a new phone, the process for a login to Cash App on another phone follows the same recovery path as any device. Start at the login screen, tap the three-dot icon at the top right, and choose “I need help logging in” to begin looking up your account. The same steps apply whether you need to login Cash App on Android or iPhone, as the app does not use a separate flow for either platform.
Things get trickier if your contact details have changed. When you need to access old Cash App account without phone number, the app will ask you to choose a lookup method, but the documented recovery flow requires either the phone number or email already linked to the account. There is no documented bypass if you have lost both. The same limitation applies when you must login to Cash App without phone number or email: the documented recovery prompts still expect at least one of those pieces of information to verify your identity and restore access.
Add money to spend
Before you can spend or send, you need a balance to draw from. One direct way is to mobile deposit a check on Cash App. From the Money tab, tap Deposit Check, then photograph the front and back when prompted. The service accepts paychecks, personal, cashier’s, and government-issued checks, each under 180 days old and endorsed with “Cash App Deposit” in blue or black ink below your signature.
You can also fund your spending through a linked wallet instead of a check. If you carry an iPhone, you first need to set up Apple pay on iPhone 12 by going to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay, tapping Add Card, and choosing Debit or Credit Card. On the Android side, the equivalent is to use Google pay on Android by opening the Google Wallet app, following its prompts, and making sure NFC is turned on in Settings so tap-to-pay works at terminals. More broadly, when you use a digital wallet on Android, the same Google Wallet app becomes the hub where you select Add to Wallet and add a card that Cash App can draw from when you choose that payment method in the app.
Send payments and manage activity
To reach your transaction records inside the app, tap the clock icon in the bottom-right corner of the home screen, then scroll through the Activity tab and tap any payment to see its details. If you prefer a larger screen, sign in on the web at cash.app/account with your email, phone number, or passkey, open the Activity page, and use the search bar or Filter to narrow things down. When you are ready to send money without reaching for plastic, you can pay with Cash App without card on Android directly from your Cash App balance or linked bank account. The same balance works across platforms, so you might also send and request money via Facebook Messenger on iPhone. For recurring obligations, using mobile apps for bills and savings helps you schedule transfers and set aside funds without manually opening Cash App every time. The app keeps a running log of everything you do, so you may eventually want to clear Cash App history on iPhone, though the official interface is designed for viewing activity rather than erasing it entirely.
