How to mute someone on Discord in a voice channel
Muting someone in a voice channel silences only their audio for you, while everyone else in the channel can still hear them. The original states you can only mute someone on a Discord server (member list mute) using PC, and that the mobile app lacks this option.
On mobile
- In the voice channel, find the user’s name.
- Long-press on that person’s username.
- In the pop-up menu, enable the toggle next to Mute.
If you have the Mute Members permission, you can instead choose Server Mute to silence them for the entire voice channel.
On PC
- Under the voice channel name, locate the person you want to mute.
- Right-click on that user’s name.
- Check the box next to Mute.
With the Mute Members permission, you can right-click and select Server Mute (shown in red) to mute them for everyone in the channel.
How to mute a Discord channel
Muting a channel stops notification sounds and badges for that channel only. You can still see and read all messages.
