Who Is Kamisato Ayato in Genshin Impact?
Kamisato Ayato in Genshin Impact is well-known by most players. You might recognize him as the sleek Hydro character who leads the Kamisato Clan. He’s also Kamisato Ayaka’s brother and the commissioner of Yashiro. Fans of the game will also know him to be a big fan of everything boba-related.
Appearance-wise, you might recognize him by his soft blue hair with long bangs on one side. He wears a white and blue suit and black gloves. Moreover, Ayato commonly wields a sword. If you’ve played him before, you’ll know using him as a main DPS is the best course of action. Apart from that, you can also use him as a burst support character because of his various abilities.
How to Get Kamisato Ayato on Genshin Impact?
Before we learn how to build Ayato, we must first understand how to obtain him. It’s useless to craft an Ayato build if you don’t have the character on hand, after all. With that said, how exactly do you obtain Kamisato Ayato in Genshin Impact?
Like most other characters, you can obtain Ayato’s character by making a wish. However, he’s a 5-star character, which means you only get a 0.6% chance of pulling him and you will need to obtain a lot of Primogems for this process. Thankfully, you’re guaranteed a 5-star character after making 89 wishes.
If you cannot get Ayato by the 90th wish, you’ll need to wish 180 times to get his character. This will cost you about 28,800 Primogems if you need a guaranteed pull. You also get a grace that guarantees a featured 5-star banner character if you lose 50/50.
Unfortunately, his event already ended with Genshin Impact 2.6 and ran from March 30 to April 19, 2022. As of the moment, MiHoYo has released no news of when Kamisato Ayato’s banner will return.
Kamisato Ayato Skills and Talents
Normal Attack – Kamisato Art: Marobashi
With an Ayato build, your normal attacks will be quite simple. Ayato can quickly strike enemies up to 5 times consecutively. If you use a charged attack, you’ll perform an iai and use up a set amount of stamina. Meanwhile, plunging attacks from mid-air allow Ayato to hit the floor beneath him. As a result, you’ll damage nearby enemies on the path and deal AoE damage when you land.
Elemental Skill – Kamisato Art: Kyouka
When implementing Ayato’s Elemental Skill, his character will change positions and go into Takimeguri Kanka. Once he changes positions, he leaves a watery illusion from his starting point that will explode on nearby enemies. This is what Ayato’s AoE Hydro damage is like.
Now, once Ayato is in Takimeguri Kanka, several things occur. Firstly, he’ll use Shunsuiken to rapidly attack enemies. His normal attacks will then transform into AoE Hydro damage which cannot be reversed.
Upon using Shunsuiken on an enemy, you’ll get a Namisen effect. This boosts the damage you deal with Shunsuiken based on your maximum HP. Initially, your maximum stack of Namisen will be four. Moreover, you’ll gain one stack upon using Shunsuiken every 0.1 seconds. However, the effect will dissipate when Takimeguri Kanka finishes.
Apart from this, Takimeguri Kanka also boosts your resistance to interruptions. However, you cannot use plunging or charged attacks when you enter this state. If you exit the field, Takimeguri Kanka will stop. Meanwhile, using Kyouka once more will also reset Takimeguri Kanka, even if you were already in that state.
With its power, you’re going to want to invest in the Elemental Skill the most with an Ayato build. That’s because his Elemental Skill has a distinct scaling apart from normal attacks, much like Raiden Shogun with Elemental Burst.
Elemental Burst – Kamisato Art: Suiyuu
Kamisato’s Elemental Burst Art: Suiyuu is useful for dealing damage to multiple enemies all at once. Using it will reveal a garden of purity, creating a space wherein Bloomwater Blades can rain down.
Once that happens, enemies within the AoE will sustain Hydro damage from the blades. Moreover, this event boosts the normal attack damage of the members within the AoE. This is what makes utilizing your Ayato build as a burst support character possible.
Passive Talent
With an Ayato build, you get three passive talents you can utilize. Firstly, you can use something called “Kamisato Art: Daily Cooking.” This boosts your odds of getting a bonus “suspicious” dish of similar variety after cooking a recipe perfectly.
Meanwhile, the “Kamisato Art: Kiyotaki Jouhou” lets you obtain two Wave Flash stacks once you use it. You also gain a Wash Flash equal to the maximum possible stacks after sustaining damage when your water illusion erupts.
Finally, you can also use “Kamisato Art: Katsusui Senkoku” which boosts the damage of your Elemental Burst. However, remember the 3% increase in damage for this will be based on your current maximum HP.

Kamisato Ayato Artifact Build
Three artifact sets can truly bring out the best in an Ayato build. These three will be useful if you’re going to use him primarily as the main DPS. However, two artifacts will be better suited if you want him as a burst support character. Let’s discuss every artifact below.

1. Echoes Of An Offering
Firstly, one of the best artifacts you can get for your Ayato build is “Echoes of an Offering”. Obtaining a two-piece set will earn you a decent attack boost of 18%. However, we recommend spending extra effort getting the four-piece set.
With this, you get a 36% chance of triggering Valley Rate whenever you hit enemies with normal attacks. The Valley Rate boosts your normal attack damage by 70%. The effect will stop 0.05 seconds after your normal attack damages opponents.
On the other hand, if Valley Rate doesn’t trigger, you get higher odds of triggering it on your next attack. The odds of it triggering will then boost by 20% until you finally trigger Valley Rate. However, remember that Valley Rate can only occur every 0.3 seconds.
Despite being a solid artifact, the Echoes of An Offering may be inconsistent. That’s because the four-piece set effect only activates by chance. Hence, it’s not the best to use if you need something that can consistently boost your effects.
Nonetheless, it remains the best artifact you can get if you want to maximize your DPS Ayato build. That’s especially true considering succeeding attacks boost the chances of its four-piece set’s effect.
2. Heart Of Depth
The second-best artifact you can use for your Ayato build is the “Heart of Depth”. Obtaining a two-piece set for this artifact will bump up your Hydro damage bonus by 15%. Meanwhile, a four-piece set boosts your normal and charged attack damages by 30% after using an elemental skill. This effect will last 15 seconds.
Coincidentally, the Heart of Depth artifact is also the best you can use for a burst support Ayato build. It’s especially useful because you’re likely going to use Hydro constantly in that scenario. Moreover, you’ll likely utilize his big elemental burst fairly often. You also only need the two-piece set to bring out Ayato’s potential as a burst support character.
The Heart of Depth artifact is more consistent than Echoes of an Offering, so it’s more reliable in a way. However, its effects aren’t as potent compared to the latter. Nonetheless, it’s the better option if you already have it on hand.
3. Gladiator’s Finale
Finally, you can also use the Gladiator’s Finale as your artifact for the main DPS Ayato build. The two-piece set will yield you a modest attack boost of 18%. Meanwhile, the four-piece set will boost your normal attack damage by 35%. However, this will only take effect if Ayato wields a claymore, polearm, or sword. Otherwise, the effect will be moot.
Like Heart of Depth, Gladiator’s Finale is more reliable than Echoes of an Offering. However, it’s not as powerful in the effects it provides you, although it’s a decent choice if you have it on hand. Moreover, it’s a good artifact if you’re already prioritizing artifact farming for other characters.
4. Noblesse Oblige
The “Noblesse Oblige” artifact is especially useful if you’re going to utilize a burst support Ayato build. Its two-piece set will yield a boost in your elemental burst damage by 20%. This option is a solid one if you’re not too keen on farming many artifacts for Ayatio’s DPS build.
In addition, it’s effective if you pair Noblesse Oblige with a two-piece Heart of Depth set. This should make you more effective in both your burst and Hydro damages. Overall, it will depend on what you prioritize and if you’re able to farm.
What Are Kamisato Ayato’s Constellations?
If you happen to pull more than one Ayato, you can gain bonuses through constellations. Of course, it’s not a common occurrence, especially because Ayato’s a 5-star character. Nonetheless, we’ve listed the potential constellations and effects you’ll get upon pulling more than one:
- Kyouka Fuushi (First Level) – Boosts your Shunsuiken damage by 40% if the enemy has an HP of 50% or less.
- World Source (Second Level) – Adds one more to the maximum amount of Namisen you can have, making it five instead of four. Once you get three Namisen stacks, your maximum HP will also go up by 50%
- To Admire The Flowers (Third Level) – Boosts your Kamisato Art: Kyouka level by three and increases your max upgrade level to 15.
- Endless Flow (Fourth Level – After implementing Elemental Burst, this increases your teammates’ normal attack speed by 15% for 15 seconds if they’re close by.
- Bansui Ichiro (Fifth Level) – Boosts your Elemental Burst level by three and your max upgrade level becomes 15
- Boundless Origin (Sixth Level) – After implementing Kamisato Art: Kyouka, your next Shunsuiken will generate two extra strikes when they hit enemies. Each Shunsuiken strike will deal 450% of your attack as damage. Namisen will not influence both Shunsuiken strikes.
Kamisato Ayato Ascension Materials Guide
For the most part, Ayato’s ascension materials are similar to many Hydro characters. Inazuma contains a lot of these materials, too. Although they will take time to gather and farm, they’re all obtainable so you can start collecting immediately to ascend to level 90.

The Best Team Composition for Kamisato Ayato
There are five team compositions you can use to maximize your Ayato build. Using these combinations will yield different effects, depending on what you want to achieve. We’ve listed every team composition below to help guide you.
1st Team | 2nd Team | 3rd Team | 4th Team | 5th Team |
Xiangling | Hu Tao | Xiangling | Fischl | Ganyu |
Jean | Yun Jin | Raiden Shogun | Beidou | Kazuha |
Bennett | Zhongli | Bennett | Sucrose | Kokomi |
As you might expect, each team composition yields different results depending on how you use the characters. For example, team 1 utilizes a “Sunfire” tactic which uses Bennett and Jean’s bursts. You can also substitute Jean with Kazuha. Regardless, the Sunfire should swirl Pyro consistently. Meanwhile, Xiangling’s bursts will add Pyro as well as Ayato vaporizes enemies with his Elemental Skill.
You can also vaporize enemies using Team 2 by utilizing Yun Jin’s burst and Geo Resonance. Meanwhile, Zhongli is there to help increase your damage while Hu Tao constantly vaporizes enemies as a Pyro DPS character. You can also substitute Hu Tao with someone like Yoimiya.
On the other hand, Team 3 can act like the National Team — but it uses Ayato instead of Xingqiu. With this setup, you can utilize Raiden Shogun for energy. However, you can just as easily substitute Raiden for someone like Kazuha, Venti, or Sucrose for Anemo support.
Meanwhile, the fourth team simply acts as a taser composition for your Ayato build. Team 5 is more useful, with Ayato and Ganyu teaming up for AoE freezing. With this team, Kazuha can round up enemies inside the AoE field while depleting resistances using Viridescent Venerer. Moreover, Kokomi is useful as a healer or another Hydro character.
