Diluc Ragvindr is a nobleman and the owner of the Dawn Winery. He is born for the Ragvindr Clan and is held in high regard in Mondstadt society. He was a former member of the Knights of Favonius but has since then parted ways with the organization. Despite leaving the Knights, Diluc continues to protect Mondstadt in his own way — becoming the “Darknight Hero” in the process.

He is among the first playable 5* characters of Genshin Impact from the 1.0 patch. Diluc is also one of the first characters to be featured on the Standard Banner for the game.

Contrary to the other 5* characters, Diluc is relatively easy to get in Genshin Impact. There is a chance to get him on all available banners, including the Beginners’ Wish Banner. Diluc is a prime example of a character that you can obtain by sheer luck. The good thing about Diluc in Genshin Impact is that you have more chances of obtaining him as long as you keep on wishing.

An almost foolproof way of getting Diluc is by relying on the game’s pity system. For every 70+ wishes made, you have the chance to obtain a 5* character. Many players have experienced getting Diluc by following this principle. The only downside of this is that there is no guarantee of him being the 5* character that you’ll get.

The best way to increase your chances of obtaining Diluc or a constellation is to wait for him to be a featured character during an event. Alternatively, you can also wait for the Standard Banner to have a rotation until Diluc appears in it again.

How to Use Diluc on Genshin Impact?

When it comes to characters like Diluc, you might have a hard time collecting constellations. As a 5* character, it’s a bit harder to roll for multiple copies of Diluc so leveling up his talents makes up for this as you can make his skills stronger with Talent Level-up materials.

Here’s a quick overview of Diluc’s talents:

Combat Talents

In general, the talent level-up for Diluc follows Normal Attack > Elemental Skill > Elemental Burst. However, if you’re lucky enough to score Diluc’s constellations, the talent prioritization can vary depending on how many constellations you have. His constellations boost his Elemental Skills’ damage so you can prioritize this the least if you have constellations.

Tempered Sword (Normal Attack)
  • Normal Attack: Performs up to four consecutive strikes.
  • Charged Attack: Perform continuous slashes with a powerful strike at the end of the sequence (consumes stamina).
  • Plunging Attack: Damages enemies along the path and deals AoE damage on impact.
Searing Onslaught (Elemental Skill)
  • Performs a slash that deals Pyro DMG.
  • This skill can be used up to three times consecutively.
  • The skill cooldown is 5 seconds.
Dawn (Elemental Burst)
  • Intense flames dealing Pyro DMG is released. The flames will then turn into a weapon that summons a Phoenix that deals immense Pyro DMG to the opponents in its path.
  • The Phoenix causes AoE Pyro DMG after reaching its destination.

Passive Talents

While you can’t level up Passive Talents with materials, you can always unlock them as you ascend the character. The faster that you can ascend Diluc, the more his talents become accessible to you.

Relentless (Unlocks at 1st Ascension) Charged Attack stamina cost decreases by 50% and the attack lasts an additional 3 seconds.
Blessing of Phoenix (Unlocks at 4th Ascension) The Pyro Enchantment from Dawn lasts an additional 4 seconds. Diluc also gains an additional 20% Pyro DMG Bonus for the effect’s duration.
Tradition of the Dawn Knight (Utility Passive) When crafting Claymores with Diluc, 15% of the ores used will be refunded.

What Are Diluc’s Constellations?

To activate Diluc’s constellations, you will need to gain extra copies of him by wishing. Each constellation requires his Stella Fortuna constellation. Take note that while other characters also require a Stella Fortuna, you cannot use their constellations on Diluc and vice versa. Each constellation is unique to the character and can only be used to activate that character’s constellation.

  1. Conviction – Deals an additional 15% DMG when opponents have an HP above 50%.
  2. Searing Ember – Diluc’s ATK increases by 10% and his ATK SPD increases by 5% when he takes DMG. This effect lasts for 10 seconds and can stack up to three times.
  3. Fire and Steel – Increase the Level of Searing Onslaught by 3.
  4. Flowing Flame – When Searing Onslaught is cast in rhythm, the DMG dealt is increased.
  5. Phoenix, Harbinger of Dawn – Increases Dawn’s Level by 3.
  6. Flaming Sword, Nemesis of the Dark – The next two Normal Attacks performed after casting Searing Onslaught will have a 30% increase in DMG and ATK SPD.

Best Diluc Genshin Impact Build

This Diluc Genshin Impact build guide will provide you with the best builds that will give the highest damage possible. In any Genshin Impact build, weapons and artifacts play very important roles in the build. You ought to scan through the artifacts and weapons that you currently have so that you can farm for better ones if needed.

In this guide, we have included both Free-to-Play and Pay-to-Play weapons. Remember that you don’t have to buy weapons or spend money to obtain good weapons. You can easily craft weapons for Diluc or even obtain them through Quests. Keep in mind that there are many alternatives that you can consider and you don’t have to buy anything.

Additionally, there will be no options for a Support build in this guide. While most Genshin Impact characters are flexible when it comes to roles, the most that Diluc can be is a Sub-DPS. He cannot work as a Support character because his skillset is highly offensive. Diluc works best as your Main DPS with a team composition that works around his skillset.

With that, here are some Diluc builds that you might want to consider using.

Weapon Artifacts
  • Wolf’s Gravestone (5*)
  • The Unforged (5*)
  • Prototype Archaic (4*)
  • Lithic Blade (4*)
  • 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames with a focus on ATK Percentage, Pyro DMG, and Crit Rate / DMG.
  • A complete Crimson Witch of Flames set increases the DMG made by Overload and Burning by 40%. It also increases the Vaporize and Melt DMG by 15%.
  • If you use an Elemental Skill, you’ll get the 2-piece set effect as a buff which increases Pyro DMG Bonus by 15%. When you have a 4-piece set, this effect is increased by 50%.

The best Artifact to use for Diluc is undoubtedly a 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames set. This is also the best artifact set for Pyro characters as these will greatly boost and compliment Diluc’s skills the most.

Since Diluc works best with Elemental Reactions, having a 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames set will not only boosts his Pyro DMG but also his damage by reactions. Since you will need to build a team that will support Diluc, this is the best set to use because the reactions become stronger.

In terms of weapons, the 5* Wolf’s Gravestone is the best one for him because it boosts Diluc’s ATK and that of the rest of the team. But if you don’t have this weapon, you can also consider The Unforged or the 4* Prototype Archaic which has the same effects. You can also use the Lithic Blade if you want to boost his ATK and Crit Rate.

Sub-DPS Build

Weapon Artifacts
  • Serpent Spine (4*; Battle Pass Weapon)
  • Rainslasher (4*)
  • Prototype Archaic (4*)
  • 2-piece Gladiator’s Finale and 2-piece Martial Artist with a focus on Elemental Mastery, Pyro DMG, and Crit Rate/DMG.
  • A 2-piece Gladiator’s Finale grants an 18% increase in ATK while a 2-piece Martial Artist increases the Normal and Charged Attack DMG by 15%.

To build Diluc as a Sub-DPS, you want to focus on his Normal and Charged Attack while still putting a bit of focus on his Elemental Skill. You still need to boost his Elemental Mastery here because you still want to be able to create strong reactions with the other members of your team.

In terms of weapons, Serpent Spine and Prototype Archaic are good options because they boost Crit Rate and ATK, respectively. However, if you want a weapon that will boost Elemental Mastery, you ought to use the Rainslasher. The Serpent Spine is a Battle Pass weapon that requires purchases to be made; you don’t have to purchase anything especially if you have the Prototype Archaic. You can always make up for the Crit Rate with artifacts.

Weapon Artifacts
  • Wolf’s Gravestone (5*)
  • Skyward Pride (5*)
  • Serpent Spine (4*; Battle Pass Weapon)
  • Prototype Archaic (4*)
  • Blackcliff Slasher (4*)
  • 2-piece Crimson Witch of Flames and 2-piece Gladiator’s Finale with a focus on ATK or ATK%, Pyro DMG, and Crit Rate/DMG.
  • A 2-piece Crimson Witch of Flames grants a 15% Pyro DMG Bonus and a 2-piece Gladiator’s Finale grants an 18% ATK increase.

This is a build that you can substitute with Diluc’s Recommended Build. If you don’t have a 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames, you can make do with a 2-piece set with a 2-piece Gladiator’s Finale set. These will help to bring out a massive amount of damage.

In terms of weapons, there are more options for this build than the recommended build because the artifacts will need to complement the weapons. The ones added in this build are the 5* Skyward Pride which boosts Energy Recharge and the Blackcliff Slasher which boots Crit DMG. You can go with any of the weapons for this build because they almost focus on ATK, ATK%, and Crit. You want to maximize the damage made by Diluc as much as possible with his artifacts and weapons.

Best Team Composition for Diluc

In any team composition, Diluc must be your main DPS. For a character with his skill set, it’s impossible to put Diluc in any other role. You will need to build your team around Diluc to support him. The team will need to help boost Diluc’s damage with buffs and reactions for their team to work.

With that, here are the best team compositions for Diluc:

Recommended Team Composition

Diluc Recommended Team

  • Main DPS: Diluc
  • Sub-DPS: Xingqiu
  • Sub-DPS/Healer: Bennett
  • Support: Kazuha

In this composition, Elemental Reactions are key. Having Xinqiu in the team activates the Vaporize combo when Diluc uses his Elemental Skill. Kazuha’s Elemental Skill and Burst will be beneficial to this team because it can spread Diluc’s flames more with his Swirl. Bennett provides the ATK Buff and healing to the entire team.

F2P-Friendly Team Composition

  • Main DPS: Diluc
  • Sub-DPS/Reaction: Chongyun
  • Sub-DPS: Fischl
  • Support/Healer: Bennett

If you don’t have Kazuha in your team, consider this instead. Most players will likely have Chongyun, Fischl, and Bennett in their roster as these characters are easily obtainable. For this composition, Chongyun serves as both your Sub-DPS and reaction because he and Diluc can spam Melt reactions. They can also override Cryo imbuement. With Fischl as your support, you can also add Overload to your reactions. Lastly, Bennett provides DMG boosts and heals. As another Pyro character, he can increase ATK with Elemental Resonance.

While Diluc is a character that many players find hard to obtain, he is one of the easiest to raise. His Ascension Materials are easy to obtain especially if you consider Fatui Skirmishers as easy opponents. That said, here is a quick rundown of the materials that you need to max out Diluc’s level.
