Genshin Impact Update 2.4 Brings 4-Star Characters and a New Area

Genshin Impact version 2.4 is officially arriving on January 5, 2022, Chinese developer miHoyo revealed. The new Genshin Impact update will expectedly bring new characters and old ones in a new quest to rebuild the Jade Chamber. Moreover, version 2.4 teases a new area to be available in Teyvat.

“Beneath the still waters around Watatsumi Island lies a new realm. Sealed away for thousands of years, the now-awakened Enkanomiya calls out for a hero,” says miHoYo studio technical director Zhenzhong Yi in a press release.

Summoning Genshin New Characters

Genshin introduces new characters Shenhe and Yun Jin in update 2.4. These two will join old characters in the many quests in the Genshin Impact universe.

miHoYo says five-star character Shenhe is a descendant of a family of exorcists. In a press release, miHoYo says “[Shenhe] has been raised by Cloud Retainer and does not understand the intricacies of human relations nor the ways of the world.” Shenhe’s Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst can help deal increased Cryo damage.

On the other hand, Yun Jin is a four-star Geo polearm user and is good support for attackers. Yun Jin’s skills can shield her from attacks and charge her up for an impactful attack. Additionally, her Elemental Burst causes AoE Geo DMG and grant all nearby teammates a Flying Cloud Flag Formation.

Shenhe and Yun Jin’s summon rate will increase during the first Event Wish, coinciding with Xiao‘s banner. As Genshin Impact will be doing a double banner this season, Zhongli and Ganyu will have their banner in the later stage of Version 2.4.

 

Lantern Rite And New Area In Version 2.4

Liyue is celebrating the new year with streets lined up with festival lights, vendors, and stalls. Additionally, miHoYo teases the Jade Chamber receives a new lease of life at this time. Previously, the Jade Chamber has sustained damage following the Anchor Quest where ancient god and sea monster Osial saw his defeat.

Genshin Impact version 2.4 invites players to pitch in the work in retrieving lost items from the Jade Chamber by either salvaging them using the Waverider or retrieving the items from the Treasure Hoarders.

However, it’s the mystery behind the underwater nation in the stories around Watatsumi Island which is making fans clamor over Genshin Impact version 2.4. miHoYo reveals the underwater nation is called Enkanomiya and its mysteries are going to be the new area in the new Genshin Impact update.

Additionally, miHoYo characterizes Enkanomiya as a floating island beneath the ocean. Furthermore, the creators say Enkanomiya is a place that knows no day or night; it enjoys artificial sun which lights the depths where it hides.

Additionally, players may gather information about Enkanomiya from the abandoned library, shrines, laboratory, and the city’s remains. Fans will also find the key to solving many puzzles lies with the artificial sun, Dainichi Mikoshi.

Moreover, miHoYo isn’t only offering new features; it is also giving players new gameplay and area expanding the Genshin Impact universe further.

More Genshin Impact Maintenance

miHoYo also reports it is performing Genshin Impact maintenance to improve performance on consoles. Update 2.4 will enable players to customize the keys on the shortcut wheel of their controllers. Updates in the graphics of the game are also in the works to make them look more realistic and visually dynamic.
